Hello everyone,

Alexandra from @rookiecardmaker here today to share a fun birthday card with you.

I used the adorable Hedgehog Hugs stamp set and started by stamping the image onto some pale teal cardstock with alcohol marker friendly ink. I used my MISTI to stamp the image and after stamping it I cleaned the stamp but left it in the MISTI so I could re-stamp in the same position.

I coloured the image with my Ohuhu alcohol markers and added details with coloured pencils. Then I put the cardstock back in my MISI and stamped over it with Versamark clear embossing ink. I poured Polished Gold Superfine embossing powder over the image and melted it with my heat tool.

The reason I did it like this instead of just embossing and then colouring is that there is the potential to damage your alcohol markers by colouring over heat embossing. I know some people do it without issue but I am too worried about damaging my markers to risk it so it is worth the extra time for me.

To finish the card I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Gilded Greetings stamp set onto gold cardstock with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Opaque Bright White embossing powder. Then I used the coordinating die to cut out the sentiment. I gold embossed a sentiment from the Hedgehog Hugs stamp set onto a strip of white cardstock to create a sentiment strip and used this as a sub-sentiment for my card.

As a final touch, I added some Meraki Sparkle Golden Illusion gems around the sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed my post and that it inspires you to get crafty! Have a lovely week my crafty friends.
