Have a Gllamarous Birthday!

Have a Gllamarous Birthday!

Hi Crafty Friends!  Samantha here from @sammakescards enjoying my time as this month's guest designer for Crafty Meraki.

This week I am letting the sentiment be the star of my card and I am featuring a project I made for my best friend's birthday using the Birthday Slimline Tag Die and the super adorable G-llama-rous Birthday Stamp Set

The first thing I wanted for my card was a vibrant and colorful background.   I grabbed an A2 card panel and decided to do a little ink blending using the following Distress Oxide colors:

  • Picked Raspberry
  • Spiced Marmalade
  • Squeezed Lemonade

Once I ink-blended my background, using a paper trimmer, I cut the panel down to 3 7/8" by 5 1/8" and adhered it to a black mat cut to 4" x 5 1/4."  I then glued my matted panel to a white A2 sized card base and got to work on the details.

I started by die-cutting my birthday sentiment out of magenta glitter cardstock.  What better way to feature a sentiment than with glitter!

Next I cut several "happy" die cuts for added dimension, choosing white cardstock so the message would pop against the glitter and the colorful background.

Now it was time for stamping.

After selecting several images from the G-llama-rous Birthday Stamp Set, I stamped each image using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink onto Copic X-press it cardstock.   I then used a swirling pattern to create texture on my llamas with my Copic markers, and finished off the details in bright colors.   I die-cut the colored images using the corresponding G-llama-rous Birthday Para-dies  and arranged them around the sentiment before gluing everything down.  I am definitely someone who loves to make cards with a lot layers and dimension, so I used foam tape to pop up my llamas and my butterfly.

My card is now complete and I cannot wait to send it to my bestie who has a special love for all things llama.

Thank you for reading!
