Festive Christmas hotfoiled tags!

Festive Christmas hotfoiled tags!

Hi crafty friends! In todays blog I’m (Karin) going to show you how I made two festive Christmas tags.

I start with two clean tags that are made from 300gr. watercolour paper. First I’m going to hotfoil these tags. I’m using the under the mistletoe hotfoil plate and green hotfoil. You can place two tags on the plate together.
After foiling the tags I’m going to colour the background using liquid watercolour. For the first tag I chose red and orange and for the second tag red and pink. I’m spraying the tag with water first, then I’m going in with a watercolour paint brush that I dipped into the liquid watercolour. I randomly tap the tag with my brush full of ink. You’ll see the ink will spread over the paper because of the water. Then I’m going in with the second colour and tap the places where’s no ink yet. When the whole tag is coloured I’m taking a kitchen towel and dap the surface. Let dry completely before moving on.
I want to add some extra elements to the tags so I’m going to use parts of the festive flora wreath stampset. For the first tag I’m using three poinsettias, stamping them on dark green cardstock with grey ink. After stamping I’m tracing the lines with a red/pinkish gel pen from uni-ball. When the ink is dry I’m cutting out the poinsettias. For the second tag I’m going to use some of the holly leaves and berries from the festive flora wreath stampset. I’m stamping them on the same dark green cardstock with grey ink. After stamping I’m tracing the lines with a gold gel pen. After the ink dried I cut them out. I glue the middle of the poinsettias with tacky glue on the tag. For the holly leaves I cut a off a strip of the dark green cardstock and glue the leaves onto this strip with tacky glue. I glue the strip of cardstock on the left side of the tag. Cut off the overlapping pieces of the green strip. To add a bit more interest to the red/orange tag I’m adding some white splatter using opaque splatter from spellbinders. I also coloured the berries gold. For the pink-ish tag I took some purple-ish pink and off white ribbon that I had laying around to put onto the tag. For the red tag I’m using gold and red/white/green rope.
The only thing that’s missing is a sentiment. I chose sentiments from the festive flora wreath stampset. For the pink tag I’m using ‘Joy’ that I stamp on the same dark green cardstock that I used before and cut the sentiment with the coordinating die. I’m colouring in the sentiment with the same red/pink gel pen and place the sentiment in the middle of the tag with double sided foam tape in between the flowers. For the red tag I’m using the ‘falala’ sentiment. For this one I first cut the sentiment out of a piece of watercolour cardstock then I’m going to colour it the same way as I did with the tag. After drying I’m stamping the sentiment with gold ink from altenew. The sentiment is a bit long for this tag so I cut it into three pieces, fa, la and la. Placing them in a fun way onto the tag with double sided foam tape.
That was all for today. Hope I could inspire you with these techniques and tags! See you next Tuesday!
