Faux Watercolor with Stenciling

Faux Watercolor with Stenciling

Happy Friday, friends! Irene here with a faux watercolor card using stencils.

Products used:
Love Forever Layering Stencil Set
Gilded Greetings
Catherine Pooler inks: Cotton Candy, It's a Girl, Sand Castle, Over Coffee, Honey Bee Stamps Bee Creative Clear Embossing ink
Brutus Monroe Gold Embossing Power
Sponge Ink Daubers
Meraki Sparkle Gold
Bling Buddy

I began by centering the first layer of the stencil on an A2 panel. Then, I secured the stencil with low-tack tape behind the panel. If you've read any of my blogs, you know I love Catherine. Pooler inks. I used four colors for stenciling. For the first layer, I used Cotton Candy. You'll notice in the photos that my stencils have ink on them. I never clean my stencils (oops, lol). I lightly inked using a sponge dauber. I used ink daubers to avoid over-inking areas.

Next, I aligned the leaf outline layer; I used Sand Castle for this layer. I aligned the next leaf layer and inked it with Over Coffee. Then, I lined up the second floral layer and inked it with It's a Girl.

I placed the last layer and inked it directly from pad to paper with the Bee Creative Clear Embossing Ink. I poured the Brutus Monroe Gilded Embossing Powder directly over the panel and stencil. I am a rebel and I did not add anti-static powder before this step (DUN DUN DUN!) I removed the excess powder carefully and removed the stencil. I heat-set the layer with my Recollections heat gun. I created the "Hugs" sentiment with the Gilded Greeting Stamp Set. I used clear embossing ink and the Gilded powder and heat-set it.

I trimmed the stenciled panel to 4x5.25 inches and glued it to an A2-size kraft cardstock. I placed the sentiment with foam tape. I used my Bling Buddy to add Gold Sparkle gems.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Thanks for reading along. Have a fantastic weekend!
