Embossed Distress Oxide Background !

Hello friends! I am super excited to bring you a post on the Crafty Meraki blog. As soon as I heard that a new crafty store is in town, I was super excited, but not sure what they will have to offer. But when I realized Hima's dream was to bring you the convenience of shopping all your favorite brands under one roof with affordable shipping across USA and international locations, AND to consistently share inspiration with a mix of these brands, I was over the moon! Then came the another pinch-me, am I dreaming moment when she offered me the chance to join her Design Team. So here I am, sharing a fun project using some of my favorites form the Crafty Meraki store!

For today's project, I decided to try Jennifer McGuire's Distress Stencils technique using the Altenew Patchwork Kite Stencil. I started with a 4.25"X5.5" panel of Bristol smooth cardstock and blended some Distress Oxides in one of my favorite color combos of Wilted Violet + Picked Raspberry + Spun Sugar over it. Next I placed the stencil over it followed by a piece of moist paper towel. I placed this to make my sandwich between a cutting plate and embossing mat + plate and ran it through my die-cutting machine. When I took the sandwich apart, not only did I have a gorgeous textured panel, I also had a beautiful piece of paper towel that I absolutely had to use in my card! I chose the Altenew Line Art stamp set for my cards today and picked my sentiments from Altenew Paint-a-flower Rose and Poppy stamp sets.

For the first card, I stamped along diagonal corners with embossing ink and heat embossed with Brutus Monroe Raven Embossing powder. This is the smoothest, shiniest embossing powder ever and I highly recommend it! I did the same for my sentiment on a piece ink blended cardstock, die-cut it and added it to the center with some foam tape. Then I adhered my panel to an A2 card base to complete my card.

For my second card, I wrapped my paper towel around a piece of cardstock trimmed to 3.5"X4.5" and adhered it using Mod-Podge. It almost felt like a piece of cotton fabric with a soft textured feel to it. This time I directly stamped the florals and my sentiment with black ink on this panel. I popped the panel on to a white A2 card base to complete this card!
