Hi there! It's Andrea back with a sparkly Christmas card combining products from Crafty Meraki.
This week the design team is sharing ways to use stencils, and I decided to create my own stencil with the Marrakech Mosaic Die. Didn't I tell you I like finding different ways to use products?
To create my ornament, I started with a circle cut from lime green cardstock. I blended the circle with several shades of green ink and a little black (it adds great dimension). I diecut vellum (acetate also works great) with the Marrakech Mosaic Die, placed it over the circle, and spread gold paper glaze through the stencil. I carefully removed the stencil and set the circle aside to dry.
I created that beautiful poinsettia with the Christmas Flower Dies. I diecut the layers from red, green and yellow cardstocks and added inks in coordinating shades to each layer. To shape the petals/leaves, I ran the barrel of a paintbrush (a pencil also works) along the backs of them until they curled. I placed each petal in the palm of my hand and pressed in the center to cup them. I adhered the red layers and yellow stamens (?) together with liquid adhesive. Before assembling the layers, I used a gold glitter pen on the ends of the each stamen.
For my background I blended a panel of red cardstock with coordinating inks, finishing with a touch of black for drama. I added splatters to the background and, once the panel was dry, adhered it to a cardbase. I glued an ornament topper to my stenciled circle, strung some gold twine through the top, and attached the ornament to my card with foam.
I diecut gold glitter paper with the Frame-Worthy Dies, backed it with foam tape, and adhered it to my card, securing the ends of my twine behind the frame. I attached the poinsettia to the ornament and tucked the leaves underneath it. I added a gold foiled sentiment created with the Gilded Holiday Expressions Press-Tacular Plate and Die and finished with gold glitter dots.
