Subtle Foiled Background

Subtle Foiled Background

Hey friends....it's Michelle here sharing a project with a subtle foiled background but brings all the drama!  I love using foil but it doesn't always mean it has be forefront and center.

For my project today, I decided to go a bit subtle, but add that bit of drama that foiling always lends.  For the background I wanted to go tone on tone, so I started with a panel of black cardstock and used the Diamond Dazzle Hot Foil Plate with some matte black foil, for that tone on tone look.  I love the subtleness this adds, but still makes for a beautiful look.

I diecut the flowers using the Scarlett Meraki Flora Para-Dies using some extra backgrounds that I had made previously using some Magicals from Lindys Gang, so I thought they would be perfect as a starting point, as they already had some gorgeous colour and shimmer to them.  To add more colour to the roses, I used my Copic markers to add the definition between the stems and rose petals. The markers coloured beautifully over the pigment powders without any issues.

The flowers were then added to the matte black foiled background. One was added directly to the background using some liquid adhesive and the other using glue on the stem and then some foam adhesive on the leaves and flower, to give a bit of dimension from the bottom rose.  Some gold paint splatters were then added over it all.

The sentiment was hot foiled in gold on black cardstock using the Gilded Greetings Hot Foil Plate and cut out using the coordinating dies.  This was then popped up with foam adhesives over the rose.  It was then all added to a matching black A2 cardbase and the finishing touch of some Meraki Sparkle Magic Crystal gems were added.  These gems are my faves, because they literally are magic and go with all the colours!

And that's it!  I love foiling, whether it be a gorgeous and shiny foiled background or sentiment or something a bit more subtle but still just as beautiful as my tone on tone background.  It always makes you stop and go WOW!

I hope that you have enjoyed my post for today and that I help to inspire you some way. I wish you all the most wonderful and crafty day and until next time,

Michelle :)
