Spooky season inspired shaker card

Spooky season inspired shaker card
Hello crafty friends! It’s me Karin, with a new blog. Last week I showed you how you can use the new shaker pockets and I’m going to use it for my card today too. This card is inspired by spooky season!
I start with a good ink smoosh. It’s so relaxing to do and always fun to see the outcome of it. The colours I used for this smooshed piece are: distress ink villainous poison, picked raspberry, spiced marmelade and candied apple. I’m starting by cutting a piece of watercolour paper in the size of the mini slimline shaker pockets. I’m adding one colour at a time onto the paper. I dab the first colour of ink onto my glass mat and spray it with a good amount of water. Then I place my watercolour paper onto the ink and rub slightly with my fingers over the paper and pick it up from the mat. Let dry before moving on with the next colour. You can air dry it or speed up the process with a heating tool. I’m going to repeat these steps with the other colours. Now I have a great background to work with.
The next step is cutting out the non bar mini slimline die from black cardstock. I only want to use the outlines and the widest bar from the die so I’m going to cut out all the other bars with a scissor. I’m adding the sentiment stamp, “hey friend” from the gilded expressions stampset using white ink first and let it dry. After the ink is dry I’m tracing the ink with a gold gel pen.
To make it a little spooky I’m going to cut the two smallest butterflies from the butterfly bliss die out of black cardstock. I’m adding three of the butterflies onto this card. But first I’m spray painting them with the distress spritz sprays in wilted violet and barn door. For me these butterflies look a bit like bats now, great for spooky season but a little less spooky, lol!
Now it’s time to put this shaker together. I’m folding the sticky parts of the shaker pocket with my folding bone and add my smooshed watercolour piece of paper in it. I’m sticking three sides to the back of it so I can add the shaker embellishments on the top before closing it. I’m using the twinkle treats black iridescent here. I’m glueing the butterfly bats and the nine bar die into the shaker with sticky glue. And to top it off I’m adding a few purple embellishments next to the stamped sentiment.
That’s all for todays card. Hope I could inspire you with this shaker card! See you next Tuesday, hopefully.
