Simple 3 Layered Luna Butterfly Die

Hey Crafty Meraki friends.....Michelle with you today sharing a card made using the beautiful Luna Meraki Para-Dies.  The Luna Die Set is a 3 piece layered die set, but you do not have to use all 3 dies together, if you don't want to.  You can use 1 or 2 of them or all 3 as I've done.  I paired mine against an alcohol inked (oh my goodness...it's been a loooong time since I picked up my alcohol inks) background.  Let's get to it, shall we!

I started by cutting 3 butterflies using 2 layers of die (top detailed layer and the bottom) from the Meraki Sparkle Spectrum Rainbow Ombré Glitter Paper and black cardstock and the middle from the glitter as well.  I did change this up later, as once I had my background done, they didn't go with it.   

For the alcohol ink background, I used a piece of glossy photo paper, using the back of it (which is the matte side). I added some isopropyl alcohol mixed with gold ink and added it to the middle of paper, going from corner to corner.  I then added one drop of the purple to the top and bottom and 1 drop of blue in the middle. I used an air puffer to move the inks and alcohol around.  Once it was dry (which doesn't take long) I sprayed it with alcohol in a mini mister.  This kind of removes the ink and leaves white spots.  This is pretty much the same look as spraying an ink blended background with water.

Next foil a piece of black cardstock in gold using the Gilded Greetings Hot Foil Plate and cut out using the coordinating die.  Be sure to secure the die using some low tack tape, so that you don't run the risk of it moving around on you when die cutting it.

As I stated before, I changed up the butterfly once I had my background done.  I cut out the bottom layer from white and the middle of the butterfly from a matte gold catdstock. For the middle layer, I used the same purple ink as I used for the background.  I took a piece of white cardstock and added some alcohol to it and then the ink.  I moved the inks around, doing so very quickly as the cardstock is very porous and the inks absorb into and aren't very forgiving at all.  I did like the uneven look I got with the inks. Once dry, I cut out the middle layer from it.  

I trimmed the background down and to 3.75x5" and ran arund the outside edges of it with a black Sharpie marker.  This was adhered to the white A2 cardbase.  The butterfly was assembled and adhered to the background on an angle and the foiled sentiment added above it.
