Sending Hugs with an Embossed Background

Sending Hugs with an Embossed Background

Hey friends...Michelle back showing you how to get dimension with a hot foil plate.  I decided to make a more clean and simple card but still has lots of dimension for the background.  Now you'd normally use an embossing folder to get an embossed background, but not this time.  Follow along to find out how I achieved this.

I started by diecutting the 3 flowers using the Lily Meraki Flora Para-Dies.  I didn't remove them from the cardstock after diecutting right away, this way I could do some light ink blending without being afraid not to bend the delicate stems. The sentiment was hot foiled in gold using the Handmade Love Hot Foil Plate and coordinating die.

For the background I used the Diamond in the Rough Hot Foil Plate.  You would normally need to use an embossing folder to achieve an embossed background like this, but it was really pretty simple to do using the hot foil plate.  I made the following sandwich for my machine, however my apologies in advance as I do no know the actual real names for the plates I used in my sandwich lol....bottom base, magic mat (or plastic cutting plate) silicone embossing mat and paper and hot foil plate.  The silicone mat takes the place of a top cutting plate.  Now this sandwich may not work in your machine, as everyone is different.  The amount of pressure needed in mine may be different to yours, so always play around and see what works for you.

Trim the background down to 3.75"x5" and add some gold inks platters to the right side of the embossed background.  Add the 3 flowers over the gold splatters and adhere the sentiment using some foam squares. Add this to an A2 cardbase and finish it off with of course some sparkle courtesy of the Meraki Sparkle Magical Iris gems.

Play around with your supplies and see if they can be used in other ways than their intended....you never know what you will discover.  Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope I have inspired you in some way.

I wish you all the most wonderful and crafty day and until next time,

Michelle :)
