Paper Weaving for Texture

Hey Crafty Meraki family....it's Michelle back with you sharing a new project that has lots of texture, this texture is made using the new Strip Suite Chevron Chic Die Set. This is such a fun and oh so versatile set, that lends itself to many different possibilities...one of them being paper weaving.  Let's get started, shall we!

Start by cutting the mixed size chevron strips about 4x from white cardstock.  This should give you enough for your background.  Remove all off the diecut pieces in the strips, except for 4 of them.

Next chose 3 different shades of cardstock in the same colour family.  Alternatively you could also do some ink blending on white cardstock, if you do not have enouch coordinating coloured cardstock.  This will give an ombré look to it.  I used a 1/4" strip die to cut them.  You could also use your paper trimmer to cut them, but this was simply easier and quicker.

Take 3 strips of each colour and start to weave them in the white strips.  Be sure to weave them in the same spots on each white strip.  Be careful not to rip them, as they can get a bit delicate.

Adhere the strips to an A2 piece of white cardstock, starting with a white strip with the diecut pieces still intact.  Add 2 of the lightest shades of woven strips, white strip, medium colour, white strip, darkest woven strips and one last white.  Trim off any excess on the top and bottom and cut it down to 4x5.25".  Adhere to an A2 4.25x5.5" cardbase.

Adhere the left over strips to a piece of white copy paper, keeping the different shades together.  Take the Meraki Moments Hi Para-Dies and cut the top detailed die from the ombré strips. Cut the second layer from white cardstock and the bottom shadow layer from black cardstock.  Adhere this to the the woven background.  Stamp the word friend from the Meraki Moments Hi Stamp Set on the darker colour in the leftover paper strips from the Hi diecut word.  Adhere using foam tape.

And tha's it!  This is a fun way to add texture to a project using just your cardstock.  I imagine this would be amazing in so many different colourways....just picture a fabulous woven rainbow!  It's also another great use for your strip dies.  If you have small ribbon, that would work wonderfully as well!
