Multiple stencil techniques in one card.

Multiple stencil techniques in one card.
Hello crafty friends! Hope you’re doing well. Today I’m going to show you different stencil techniques as it is ‘stencil technique’ week over at Crafty Meraki. For todays card I used the blooming halo layering stencil set
I begin with a piece of watercolour paper, you can use any watercolour paper you like. The stencils are numbered and I started with number three and that has a reason, I want to use texture paste for the flowers so I’m doing these at last. I’m going to colour with distress watercolour pencils, I used the following colours:
For the first leaves: barn door, kitsch flamingo
For the second leaves: tumbled glass, peacock feathers.
For the dots and middle of the leaves: seedless preserves.
I apply the watercolour pencil directly onto the paper and go in with a damp watercolour brush to spread it out, be careful, if you use too many water it’ll run under your stencil and get a smudged look. Because I want to have two partial wreaths on my paper I repeat every stencil and colour twice.
When all leaves are done we can go to the flowers, I only use stencil one for this. I’m using Tim holtz texture paste and a spatula to cover the flowers and some dots. Please note that you do one wreath of flowers at a time and let the flowers dry in between before moving to the next wreath, otherwise you’ll smudge the fresh pasted flowers with your stencil and we don’t want that to happen!
After the flowers dried we can give them some colour. I used spray paint from dylusions in squeezed orange for the flowers. You can take off the cap and dab some ink onto a non porous surface. Now you can pick up the ink with a wet watercolour pencil and carefully colour the flowers. I coloured the dots with dylusions lemon zest spray paint.

I wanted to make the leaves pop so I added thin black lines with a 0,05 micron pen. To add more interest I added some glitter to the yellow dots, a silver line on the flowers with a metallic marker and sparkle twilight treasure illusion embellishments on the purple dots that were coloured with watercolour pencils.

I added black splatters to the background because i thought it was to plain without some splatter. If you have the blooming halo coördinating die you can use it to cover up your partial wreaths so the splatter will not affect your coloured design. I used some black acrylic paint for the splatters. Make it a little wet, take your brush and tap it with your other hand to create splatters.
I used the ‘happy birthday’ sentiment stamp from the enchanting hugs stampset. I stamped with black memento ink and cut it out with the mathching die set. To add a little more to it I coloured the white edges silver with the same chrome pen as I did the flowers with. I placed them on my card with double sided foam tape in 1,5mm thick.

I chose to have a coloured edge around the card so I search for a dark purple-ish colour to match the colours from the wreath. I placed the watercolour piece onto the coloured background with double sided foam tape of 1mm thick. The final size of the card is 3,75” X 5,75”.

I hope I could inspire you with my card! Have fun trying this techniques out if you’re going to. I wish you a great day! See you next Tuesday.
