Happy New Year- Year of the Ox

Happy New Year- Year of the Ox

Hello there! Joy here and I am so glad you stopped by. This is my first blog post on the Crafty Meraki page, and I am so thrilled. I look forward to interacting with you guys. Today I would like to share a card I made for Chinese New Year using the Year Of The Ox Stamp Set.

I started by stamping the lantern images twice on a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock using Memento Black Ink. I also stamped the lady from the same stamp set. Then I fussy cut them all and used my Copic Markers to colour them.

Below are the colours I used:
Red Lantern - R39, R29, R24, R22, R21, Y02, E99, YR24, Y08
Green Lantern - G29, G17, G14, YG13, Y11, Y02, E99, YR24, Y08
Blue Lantern - B06, B04, B02, B000, Y00, Y02, E99, YR24, Y08
Orange Lantern - YR09, YR04, Y35, Y15, Y02, E99, YR24, Y08
Purple Lantern - V17, V15, V12, V01, Y00, Y02, E99, YR24, Y08
Lady - E11, E00, E000, E0000, R20, R00, E33, E31, E30, RV10, RV21, RV13, RV14, RV09, C9, C7, C5, B41

To create the background, I masked the lower portion of the cardstock using memo tape and inked the top portion using Scattered Straw, Abandoned Coral, Candied Apple and Fired Brick Distress Inks along with my blender brushes. Next, I splattered water on the background and dabbed off the excess using a paper towel. After that, I splattered Yellow Gold watercolour from the Kuretake Gansai Tambi Starry Night collection using a round brush.

Then I unmasked the panel and stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set using Obsidian Pigment Ink.

After that, I assembled the card panel using art glitter glue and then stuck it on a card base.

Thank you for joining me today. Have a fabulous day.

Hugs,
Joy

I was so excited when I saw the year of the ox stamp set. My daughter-in-law is from China and whenever I can I try to do something around her culture. This stamp set is adorable and I plan on making cards to invite family over for the Chinese New Year Celebration. I love the card that Joy made and I hope mine will turn out even half as nice.
