Hey friends....Michelle here with an easy colour blocking card. If you aren't familiar with colour blocking you may be asking yourself what exactly is it.....well it is simply taking colours opposite of one another on the colour wheel, to make fun and interesting colour combinations. Let's check out mine, shall we!
To start I picked 4 coloured cardstocks that were opposites but that still look nice together. I cut all of then to 4x5.25" to start. I kept the dark blue that size but cut the other 3 on a diagonal from corner to corner. I then proceeded to cut the light pink and mustard on more of a diagonal. As I am typing up this blog post I cannot quite remember the exact dimensions that I cut them at, but they are cut to the same size.
I then adhered the dark blue piece that was left at 4x5.25" to the A2 cardbase and started layering the others on top. The dark pink was added to the top right corner of the blue piece, the mustard piece was adhered to the top right corner of the darker pink and then the lighter pink was adhered to the bottom left corner of the blue cardstock. For the sentiment I heat embossed the hugs in black embossing powder from WOW! Embossing from the new Meraki Moments Hugs Stamp Set and cut it out using the coordinating die. The small sub-sentiment was also heat embossed using the same stamp set. I simply lined up 2 of the small words in the set using the grid on my Misti Stamping Platform. A few of the Meraki Sparkle Magical Iris Gems were added to finish it off.
And there you have it...a simple and easy colour blocking card. It was really very easy to do, all it involved was some coloured cardstock and a fabulous sentiment. There are really so many colour combinations and the possibilities are truly endless for this....you van go as bold as you'd like too! I hope you give this technique a try and have fun with it!
