Hello friends! Bonnie here from Bonniecarollee Makes Cards. I love rainbow cards! There is nothing more uplifting when someone needs a HUG. I have a happy and colourful colour-blocked design that incorporates a die cut background, Craft-A-Round, and the new Meraki Moments Hugs Para-Dies Set. Not a quick card to make but certainly an easy one! Check out the VIDEO TUTORIAL to see how I created the faux patterned paper for the HUGS die cut!
White card stock was cut with the Craft-A-Round background die. Distress Oxide inks were applied to the diamond shaped areas with detail blending tools. For ease, I used one per colour. Picked Raspberry, Carved Pumpkin, Squeezed Lemonade, Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers, Shaded Lilac and Dusty Concord were applied in the order listed …. repeat, repeat, repeat!
Craft-A-Round background die was also used to cut black sheet foam and the white, now coloured, panel was adhered to it. The foam backed panel was then adhered to an A2 sized, top folding, black card base.
The smaller shadow die from Meraki Moments Hugs was used to cut both black card stock and black sheet foam. The card stock die cut was adhered to the foam. White card stock was cut using the scripty die. The letters were adhered to the foam backed shadow die cut and the sentiment mounted on the upper third of the card front.
Small, clear iridescent confetti was adhered to each of the intersecting and perimeter points of the diamonds. Of course, I used the Bling Buddy Embellishment Wand for this task! This tool made an almost impossible job quick and easy! The confetti was finished off with Nuvo Crystal Drops Morning Dew giving them an iridescent, glass-like quality.
The card was wrapped up with a dotted design on the lettering of the sentiment. Five colours of Nuvo Crystal Drops, yellow, orange, blue, lilac and purple, were applied with the tip of a craft pick for a fun, faux patterned paper look! And if you are a tactile person like me, you won’t be able to resist running your finger over it …. smooth but textured! Make sure it’s dry!
