Color Block Card

Color Block Card

Welcome back! Enza here, and today I am sharing a fun card featuring the color blocking technique.

This is such a lovely technique that allows you to piece together different colors and patterns to make a statement on your cards.

Let’s see how this card came together!

The very first step to create a color block card is to choose the colors. I searched Pinterest for this; there are so many options that it’s really difficult to pick your color combos. However, I knew I wanted my card to be bright and summery, so I went with yellow, fuchsia, orange and two different shades of green.

I started by die cutting several squares with dies from the Sweet Celebrations Para-Dies. What was intended to be a waffle/cookie-type of die was also the perfect geometric shape for what I had in mind. I cut several from the different colors and started arranging them diagonally to cover the top portion of the card base. First, I glued the bigger squares down starting with the fuchsia one in the top left corner and placing the orange, yellow, and green ones after that following the same line. The die is composed of two parts: one cuts the square base, the other cuts the lattice to put on top. So, you get all these little squares that are the perfect addition to the design. Once I had my first diagonal line down, the rest came pretty easily. I just alternated colors and sizes to obtain a balanced design.

To embellish the card, I used the flower die in the same Sweet Celebrations set. Each flower was die cut twice and layered for added dimension. For the leaves, I used two different shades of green while the yellow foliage was stamped on ink-blended yellow paper with the Evergreen Elegance Stamp Set.

I finished the card with the Moments Hi Para-Dies sentiment and a strip of fuchsia paper to pull the design together. Enamel dots in matching colors were also added to reinforce the color blocking effect.

Thank you so much for stopping by and for having me as a guest designer this month. I loved creating with the Crafty Meraki products and hope you enjoyed reading about my cardmaking process.

Have a great day!

I am Gavin Sparks, a Sweden born programmer living in Phoenix. After mining 100 btc worth $2.6M early 2021, I decided to sell off my old laptop and had to save all the wallets’ private keys and passwords to a small hard drive known as Iron keys. Unluckily the drive got lost. I tried several times to enter the password with no luck. I had to look for a hacker’s help to revive my wallet. That’s when I came across Recovery Masters, modernized experts in crypto Recovery. After a serious conversation with them my wallet was retrieved back with all my funds intact. I Must recommend them for the good and reliable services.
