Bleach Stamping with Press-Tacular Plates

Bleach Stamping with Press-Tacular Plates

Hey Crafty Meraki friends...today I'm back sharing a new project with you, featuring the new Feathered Friends Press-Tacular Plate and a stamping technique called Bleach Stamping.  Now you would normally use bleach for this, but I used just plain old water and got great results!  Let's get started, shall we!

Start by blending 3 different colours of Distress Oxide Inks on watercolour paper cut to 5.5x4.25".  Continue blending until you are happy with them.  Next press your image on the watercolour paper with the Press-tacular plate and your BetterPress system.  Be sure to use a waterproof ink.  I used the BetterPress Ink for this, as it works great for watercolouring.

Next take a very small pointed paintbrush and some clear water and start painting in the image using the water.  Leave it on for a few seconds before dabbing it off, using a paper towel, or you can just allow it to evaporate and dry on its own.  Do not over saturate it, or you run the risk of getting the water outside the lines.   I found that dabbing it off with paper towel gave it a brighter effect.

I did the entire image excpet for the body of the birds, as I found it adds more interest this way.  As you can see I did get some water out of the lines in a few spots. This was mainly due to adding too much water, but it's not the worst.  Allow to fully dry.

Trim the watercolour paper down to 3.75x5" and adhere to your A2 cardbase.  Add a sentiment from the Gilded Greetings EAP and cut out using the coordinating die.  Add a few bits of Meraki Sparkle Clear and that's it!

This is a great and really simple technique!  I love the softness that the water adds and because I used Distress Oxide Inks, the water pulls the inks off super quick and easily.  Thank you so much for joining me today.  I wish you all the most wonderful and creative day!  Until next time,  Michelle :)
