Laurel Leaf Dies

All White Vellum Insert Card

All White Vellum Insert Card

Hi friends....it's Vellum week with the Crafty Meraki design team and we have been tasked with vellum techniques.  Vellum is such a great product to work with, as there are so many ways to use it and I always find that it lends a air of delicateness to your project.  Let's get started, shall we!

For this weeks project, I decided to lean towards more classic and elegant and do an all white card.  I started by cutting out 6 of the smaller leaves in the Laurel Leaf Para-Dies from watercolour paper.  Although I wasn't going to be doing any watercolour, and as this is such a delicate die, I have found that 8 times out of 10 thinner cardstock will rip when I am trying to remove the paper from the die, so a thicker one works perfectly for me.

Next I cut the cardbase to an A4 size 4.25x5.5".  I cut the front of the cardbase almost in half at approx. 2.5" and then cut a small white strip measuring 1" from the piece that was just cut off.  A piece of vellum was cut slightly larger to fit the space that was cut out from the front of the cardbase, but still keeping in mind that the finished size needs to measure 4.25x5.5.

3 of the diecut leaves were adhered to the vellum piece using liquid adhesive and any overhang was trimmed off.  The vellum piece was added to the cardbase attaching it from behind.  2 pieces of white cardstock were cut to the proper size and added to the back of the inside of the card, to hide the adhesive where the vellum piece was attached.  I didn't add any leaves to the inside to hide the adhesive, as I used it very sparingly when adding the leaves, so there wasn't really any glue visible from behind.  The sentiment was added using black ink from the Spring Blooms Stamp Set and a few gems were added using the Meraki Sparkle Magical Iris.

And there you have it!  An elegant and simple card using vellum to give it a light and airy feel.  I really enjoyed making this and I hope you get out your vellum and have fun with it!   Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope that I have helped to inspire you in some small way.

I wish you all the most wonderful and crafty day and until next time,  Michelle :)

Hi I love this card but I don’t understand the inside of how you covered the glue. I don’t suppose there’s a video showing how you made this please?
