Watercoloring with Lindys Gang Magicals by Sweta

Hello Crafty folks,

Today I’m playing with the oh-so-fun Lindys Gang Pigment powders in Jingle Bells Shimmer Magicals along with previously released stamps from Crafty Meraki - Christmas Miracle. I’m sharing two cards today as I just could not stop playing with these shimmery powders.

To start, I cut out a couple of watercolor panels slightly larger than A2 size so that I had some room to trim them down once complete. Next, using anti-static powder over the panels first, I inserted them into a stamping platform like this (I have Tim Holtz platform) so that I could re-stamp a few times to get a crisp impression given the texture of watercolor paper. Once everything was stamped in clear embossing ink I put some white embossing powder on it and heat set it.

Taking a clean dry paint brush and I dipped it into the pots to pick up the magical shimmery powders. For the poinsettias I used the Rudolph’s nose red, adding just the tinniest bit of Silent Night Silver in the centre of the florals. For the background panel I mostly used the Frosty Forest green to contrast with the red poinsettias. With these powders, less is more! So do not put down too much powder.

Now for the magical part! Simply spray everything with a fine mist of water from the spray bottle and watch the magic happen!

In this similar manner I finished the second panel which was slightly tricker as the images of the holly and berries are smaller but I love the look of this card panel as the colors mixed in naturally to form new shades! Crafty Meraki has a wonderful collection from Lindys Gang so be sure to check it out and add some to your next order.

I left the panels to dry naturally but you can use a heat tool to dry them faster. Once dry I trimmed them down a little to fit inside A2 card bases made from Craft card stock. On one of the panels I added a sentiment using foam tape for dimension and for the busier panel I chose to keep it flat and stamped the sentiment inside the finished panel. Poinsettias have a few Prismatic Green sparkles in the centre.

I hope this inspires you to bring out those older holiday stamps and create new projects with them. Check out the newest CM Holiday release here.
