Hello crafty friends!
Today I have some Valentine's Day inspiration for you. I wanted to make a card with a bit of a vintage feel and at the same time I really wanted to use the Over the Rainbow Mini Slimline die, which has definitely made it to my favourites list. I wasn't sure if I could combine the two, because how do you combine a darkened vintage style with a rainbow?
I decided that I would create my own rainbow and make it in brown tones. After all, there really are no limits when it comes to creating. :)
To begin, I prepared a base for the bottom of the card. I used kraft paper for this. I used ink on it to give it some depth. Then, also from the kraft paper, I cut out rainbows with clouds using a die-cutter. I didn't want it to look flat, so I decided to colour in some of the elements with alkhol markers.
I wanted the card to remain delicate and simple and not have too many elements. I used stamps from three sets: It's Playtime, Love Story and Valentine. Then I stamped the designs with brown ink to keep with the vintage style. I also coloured the characters in shades of brown, so that everything worked together.
I added a little touch of beige marker to the white edge left over from cutting out the stamps, so that the white colour wouldn't stand out. How do you like this unusual edition of the Valentine's Day card?
