Thankful hugs by Lien Leysen

Hi crafty friends! It’s Lien here, back with another card using gorgeous products from Crafty Meraki and My Favorite Things.

For this card I started out by die cutting. I cut the Thanks from the Thanks slimline tag die by Crafty Meraki 4 times from cheap thick white cardstock and once from Clairefontaine DCP 250 gsm cardstock which I love for inkblending. I layered them all together with liquid glue making sure the good paper was on top and set that off to the side to dry completely.

I stamped one of the images from the Hug It Out stamp set by My Favorite Things onto some Canson Montval 200 gsm cardstock in Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed it with WOW Clear Gloss Super Fine embossing powder. I colored it in using my Karin Brushmarkers. I put some color down in the darkest areas and blend it out with a fine paint brush and clean water.

I decided on my colors for the thanks die and used Mermaid Lagoon, Wilted Violet and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide inks and blended them on using a blending brush. For the background I cut a piece of paper slightly smaller than my A2 sized cardbase, tore off an edge and crumpled it up. I know, I'm sorry if that sentence distresses you. I flattened it out a little bit and splattered it with slightly watered down black acrylic paint. While that was drying I stamped a sentiment on the edge of my cardbase in Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed it with WOW Clear Gloss Super Fine embossing powder. I propped my crumpled background up on some foam tape, adhered the thanks die on top and added foam tape to the critter as well.
