Hello crafty friends! It’s Lien again with another colorful card. Today’s card is all about pride month.
For this card I started by creating the background. I used some Pinkfresh Studio inks to color an A2 sized piece of cardstock. I’m following the colors of the lesbian pride flag, but I’m working from the middle outwards. I first put a piece of washi tape to mask off the middle white stripe. I then put a piece of scrap card on the side I’m not working on and blend the lightest shade, I then shift the scrap card lower and use that edge to blend the mid tone ink out, I shift the scrap card lower one more time to blend out the darkest line. I do this both for orange and for pink.
I let that background dry while I work on my focal point. Using my Misti I stamped out an image from the Galentine stamp set onto a piece of Clairefontaine DCP 250 gsm cardstock. I used Pinkfresh Studio Espresso ink to stamp it out. I then die cut it using a nesting heart die. To color this piece I put a base layer of alcohol marker down first, just flat color no shading. I then used my Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils to add shading. To not have the heart be stark white I used a little bit a Sky Blue ink to add some color to the top.
Now to put everything together. I trimmed a part of the heart off to make it fit nicely on my cardbase the way I want it to, I then die cut 4 more hearts with the same die and layered everything together for some dimension. To finish my background I used the Love Forever stamp set to stamp a subtle floral pattern to my background. I used Versamark ink and WOW White Pearl embossing powder to add a soft shine. I also used a sentiment from that same stamp set to make a sentiment strip. I added everything to my cardbase using liquid glue. As a finishing touch I added a couple of clear heart embellishments.
That’s it for this card! I hope you like it, please let me know if you have any questions.
