Shiny birthday wishes card.

Shiny birthday wishes card.

Hi crafty friends! It’s time for me, Karin, to share a card with you again on this blog. Today I’m focusing on a birthday card.

Two weeks ago I shared a card on this blog using the crafty plaid background die as a stencil. I kept the cut stencils that I used for that card with crackle paste so I could use it  later for another card. And I thought it would be perfect for the card of today. Because there’s crackle paste on it I can’t colour it 100% with ink but I can colour the paper cracks between the paste. I’m spraying the panel with distress spray stain in salvaged patina. After spraying I’m taking a kitchen towel and tap the excess ink off the panel. I wanted to add something extra to it so I also sprayed the panel with distress spritz in peacock feathers to give it some sparkle. After spraying with the spritz I’m taking the kitchen towel again to tap off the excess ink. Set aside to dry.
I’m going to add some florals to the card using a part of the birthday bouquet stampset. I’m stamping just a part of the stamp onto Ohuhu alcohol marker paper with memento ink in black. I’m colouring the flowers with Ohuhu alcohol markers in the following colours: V322 and V330. For this piece I use an easy colouring technique. I colour the flowers in with the lightest colour and add some shadow with the darker colour. For the leaves and stems I’m using the following Ohuhu colour: YR030. I’m adding some extra layers in the same colour on the leaves and stems to create a soft yet darker shade.
After colouring I cut the stamp out with my scissors and the white pieces in between the stamped image with a hobby knife.

Now the panel is dry I’m going to glue it down onto a piece of purple cardstock that matches the colour of the flowers using tacky glue. For the most beautiful result I would add two extra layers of the die cut panel underneath the spray painted one. I had a bad injury so I couldn’t cut more panels this time. The crafty plaid panel is A2 size and I work with A6 size that’s the normal size in Europe. So I cut off the edges of the background panel, giving me a broader piece of purple cardstock with the edge of the spray painted panel. I’m going to stamp ‘birthday wishes’ on this piece of paper with Ranger archival ink in black.

I’m adding the flowers onto the right top corner of the card with 1mm thick double sided foam tape. This gives the card more depth and interest. I’m using the same double sided foam tape for the sentiment and place it against the left edge of the card. I also add some Meraki azur opal gems to top it off.
I hope I could inspire you with this card. See you next Tuesday!
~ Karin
