Hi crafty friends! I’m (Karin) going to close this crafty year with this blog. This last week is all about background dies and because it’s the last day of this year I’m going to share a ‘happy new year’ card with you.
First I start with the Laurel leaf para-dies, I’m going to use the smallest die in a totally different way. I cut it 5 times out of white cardstock, in the end I only use 3 cuts instead of 5. I want to use the leaves to make flowers so I cut off all the leaves on the left, the one on top and the top right one. With these leaves you can make pretty flowers. But first I’m going to spray paint them with different distress spritz colours: worn lipstick, saltwater taffy and fossilized amber. I let them air dry but you can also use a heat gun on the lowest setting to dry the ink.
Now the leaves are drying I’m going to make the background. I’m using the speckled canopy background die, one of my faves. I cut it out of blush pink cardstock and glue it down onto a piece of white cardstock with tacky glue. I’m adding the number ‘25 for the year 2025 of course to the card. The number dies I use here are bought from a local shop long time ago. I cut them out of pink mirror cardstock and cut the comma with my scissors. I’m adding the numbers and comma with 1mm thick double sided foam tape onto the middle part of the card.
The leaves are dry so now it’s time to make the flowers. I’m giving each leaf, that are becoming petals now, a curve with my fingers so there’ll be a 3d effect. I only glue one end, the end that’s going to be the middle part of the flower, onto the background. I place the petals against each other in a 5 petal flower formation. When I started with this card I thought I could add 5 flowers to the card but in the end that was way too much so I only add three flowers. In the middle of each flower I’m adding the biggest embellishment from the meraki sparkle divine illusion.
And that’s all. You could also use this card for a 25th anniversary or for someone who’s turning 25, just leave the comma or add th behind the numbers and you’re done.

This was my last blog that I wrote for crafty meraki and my last card as a design team member. I want to thank you for reading my blogs and the support and love you gave me. Wishing you an amazing creative new year!!!
