Hey friends....is's Michelle back with a new post this week. Have you seen that there are monthly challenges happening in the Crafty Meraki facebook group? It's a great way to get your creativity going and you can win a great prize too! This month I am focusing my projects on the challenge this month, which is 1 product 3 different ways. So I decided to use one of the gorgeous new Press-Tacular Plates and show the different ways they can be used. Let's get started, shall we!
For my first project this month, I wanted to use the plate to create a beautiful embossed background. For this I placed the Crimson Charm Press-Tacular Plate on the magnetic platform, centering it to that it doesn't go over the halfway point. Do not ink it up, as we want only the pressed impression. Place the cardstock on top and run it thorugh your diecutting machine.
Turn your paper 180 degrees but do not move the plate on the platform. Run the cardstock through the diecutting machine a second time. You should now have a beautifully embossed floral background as above, when finished. Trim this down 1/8" on all 4 sides, so that it measures 4x5.25".
Cut the large cake layer from the Festive Delight Dies from white cardstock. To add some texture to the cake layer, run it through your die-cutting machine with the Fern Lattice Background Die, however replace the plastic plate in your diecutting sandwich that touches the side of the die that cuts and under the paper, with a silicone embossing mat. This way it won't cut the design in your paper, but rather just emboss the design.
To add some more interest to the cake, I heat embossed it using WOW! Heat Embossing Clear Matt Dull embossing powder. This gives an ivory cream colour to it and it has a matt finish to it, opposite to other embossing powders that leave a shiny finish.
Cut out the small circles from the same die set as well as the icing and heat emboss these using WOW! Embossing White Puff. This adds a fun texture to them. To heat emboss the small pieces, adhere them to a piece of maskimg tape and heat emboss as usual. This will keep your hands free.
Cut the small flowers and leaves from the Festive Delight die set from white cardstock. Adhere it together and add a small gem using the Meraki Sparkle Clear Gems to the middle of it. Press the Congratulations sentiment and die cut it using the Gilded Expressions Press-Tacular Plate and coordinating die. Adhere the cake together and add to the embossed background. Add the sentiment over the cake stand and add a few more of the clear gems.
And that's it! I love how simple it is to use press plates. Using them like this gives a really elegant look to it and you get some gorgeous dimension and texture to your background. These are really versatile plates.
