Hey friends....it's Michelle back with a new project for Crafty Meraki and this week it is all about the gifts! Have you ever needed some gift wrapping paper, but didn't have enough? I'm going to show you how you can make your own fabulous paper using few supplies any crafter or cardmaker will have. Let's get to it, shall we!
I wanted to create my own wrapping paper to make my box, so I went through my 12x12 papers and found an ombré sheet that would be perfect. It was going to be for a birthday, I got out my Birthday Balloons Stencil, an embossing ink pad, an ink blending foam tool (reserved only for embossing ink!) and clear embossing powder. I started by placing my stencil flush against the bottom left corner of the paper and started pouncing on the embossing ink, using the foam tool. I removed the stencil and sprinkled on the clear powder. I heat set that and then moved the stencil to the right. To ensure a seamless look to it, I made sure to place the last line of balloons on the stencil over the last line of heat embossed balloons. I continued pouncing on the embossing ink and then the clear powder over the entire 12x12 surface until it was all covered in shiny balloons. See how it appears that the paper was printed covered in balloons!?!
Next I got out a box making punchboard I've had for years from Stampin Up! and made it using that, so unfortunately I do not have the dimensions of where I punched it and scored the paper. Just be sure to score it at exactly the same spot on each side or it may get a bit lopsided or wonky when you fold it up (as mind did lol).
I secured the corners by adding some strong double sided tape to the insides of them, added a coordinating ribbon to it and the happy birthday sentiment from the Gilded Greetings EAP and added it using some foam tape.
And that's it! It is so easy to make your own 12x12 wrapping paper using a stencil and the end result makes it seem like it was like that all along!
