GORGEOUS floral wishes card with Natasha

GORGEOUS floral wishes card with Natasha

Hi Crafty Friends! I am excited to be on the Crafty Meraki blog today! Do you love slimline cards? I love creating with the amount of space on a slimline, its fun to see the card base fill up with color and design! Today I am excited to share with you Altenew - Engagement Wishes. This set is so beautiful and the florals and leaves in this set are so GORGEOUS and detailed! Let's get started!

I started by stamping 3 floral images and 4 leaves on Canson Watercolor cardstock. I prepped the area on the cardstock with my anti-static powder tool and used clear embossing ink, then heat set each image using Brutus Monroe Gilded Gold embossing powder. I love this gold powder! I then taped the card stock panels down onto a hard board to begin my watercoloring.

I used my Karin markers to watercolor my images. I love the brightness of these markers and how the colors blend so beautifully together! Be sure to check out the shop here for the different sets of Karin markers Crafty Meraki has to offer! I love to mix colors when I work, here is a list of the colors I used for each section.

  • Pink Flower: Lipstick Red 181, Magenta Red 170, Fire Red 092, Amber 95
  • Purple Flowers: Plum 197, Violet Blue 688, Lilac 226, Sapphire Blue 189
  • Leaves: Canary 166, Apple 210, Olive Green 281, Olive Black 447, Ocean Teal 377

I will share a bit more with you on how I use these markers. I begin by adding clean water to sections of the images using a paint brush. I add a small amount of color directly to my paper for the first layer. The paper is a little wet, so right away the color begins to move. I pull out the color using a clean paintbrush with little water. I follow the same process for all of the images and then set them aside to dry. Once everything is dry I work on adding layers of color by adding various colors. For these layers of color I add the color directly to my glass mat and use a paint brush and water to add color to sections. I make sure the layers are dry before adding in more color. Once all my images were done I set these aside to dry.

To complete the card I created a watercolor background on Canson Watercolor cardstock, 3.5 x 8.5. I used Gansai Tambi watercolors: 50(Malachite), 62 (Turquoise Blue), 91 (Blush Gold), 40 (Gold). I added color to my glass work surface and used an ink smooshing technique. I added layers of color and dried with my heat tool before adding more. I added a few pink splatters to bring together the 2 colors of flowers. I chose 2 sentiments from the set Engagement Wishes and heat embossed these on black using white embossing powder. I adhered all flowers and leaves to my watercolor panel and then adhered this to my card base. I adhered the sentiments, a few sequins, and my card is complete.

Thank you so much for stopping by the Crafty Meraki blog today! Be sure to check out the shop - we have so many beautiful stamps, inks, and more to choose from!
