Fresher than Fresh Cut flowers

Hi everyone! I am super excited to be back up on the Crafty Meraki blog today! Today I am sharing the beautiful MFT - Fresh Cut Flowers stamp with you! It has been awhile since I made a one layer card.... so it was fun to create a 1 layer card today! Let's get started!

Today is all about one layer - using MFT - Fresh Cut Flowers ! I love creating one layer cards and they are super easy to mail as well! Today I am using Karin Brush Markers - I chose to stamp my image on Arches Cold Press paper. I have the 60 set of Karin markers. If you would like to try these out Crafty Meraki also offers individual colors! I prepped my paper using my anti-static tool and then used clear embossing ink and heat set the image using Brutus Monroe Gilded Gold Embossing powder! I then taped my paper down to my wood board and just enjoyed the coloring process!

I enjoyed coloring this floral and worked hard to leave that sweet spot (white space) on the flower! The colors I used are:

  • Flower: Pale Violet 226, Lilac 226, and Gold 283
  • Leaves: Lush Green 228, Olive Black 447, Sapphire Blue 189

I worked in layers giving myself time to let everything dry. I truly love this paper though and found it can hold water really well! I took my time truly enjoying the coloring process. I love adding the deep blue shades to the ends of leaves to add the contrast in color! Once my coloring was down, it was time time to begin the background!

To add more visual interest to my one layer card I wanted to add a variety of colors in similar shades around my floral image. Adding color around the image allows the image to become the focal point. I wet the surface around the flower using a large paintbrush and then added layers of water colors. I used my Gansai Tambi colors on the background. I used: Yellow Ochre 44, Cadium Orange 33, Cadium Scarlet 31, and Cadium Yellow 43. I completed 3 layers around the outside, allowing time for the panel to dry in-between. I then added metallic splatter around the flower in gold and purple. I chose a sentiment from Altenew - Paint a Flower Rose. I trimmed down my watercolor panel and adhered it to my card base.

I hope you enjoyed my 1 layer floral card today!

This is so pretty, thanks for the tutorial! My problem is definitely not waiting long enough between layers, I get so impatient LOL.
