Fake hotfoiled background

Fake hotfoiled background

A brand new week means a brand new theme and this week it is hotfoil week. Yesterday our new effortless shimmer collection has launched and Omy how pretty is this. Super handy paperpads which you can use effortless for your shimmer cards. Unfortunately I don’t own a hotfoilmachine yet, but with some transfergel and decofoil I can create pretty backgrounds as well. So if you such as me don’t own a machine, keep reading this blog I show you how you can fake it.

Background.

Because the gel  I used needs to dry I started this time with the background. I taped some horizontal stripes on green cardstock with masking tape and smeared  "decofoil transfer gel” with a paletteknife. Gently I removed the tape and I put it aside so the stripes can dry, in the meantime I cleaned everything and started creating the beautiful flower I used for this card.

Flower

The flower I used for this card is a layering stencil and I think this “Damask layering stencil” is absolutely stunning. First I diecut the flower with the corresponding die and I picked out some distress oxide colors and start blending the flower into some white cardstock.

  • Stencil 1: saltwater taffy
  • Stencil 2: picked raspberry
  • Stencil 3: barn doorn
  • Stencil 4 bundled sage&evergreen bough
  • Stencil 5 evergreen bough

After the gel was dry completely I placed my foil sheet. A little note: pretty side up. I can’t count how many times I put the pretty side (gold this time) down. I rolled this together with the coverplate “dancing feathers” trough my diecut machine, and removed the foil, it is always so satisfying to watch.

I placed the flower in the middle and placed the sentiment on top of the flower. I used the “love like no other” from the “love like no other” set which I embossed with golden embossing powder, also a very satisfying proces to watch. Under this sentiment I taped some golden tread. finished the card with some sequins and decided to tape this card on a petrol colored cardstock so there will be a small border.

Ps: 3 flower cards in a row, next week I show you a super fun scenery.

until next week
