Hello crafty friends! It’s Tuesday again and that means I Karin am here with a new blogpost again. This week is all about vellum techniques.
I started with a piece of vellum and the wonderful lenten mini background die. I ran it through my die cutting machine with a simple piece of white cardstock. I’m going to use it as a stencil. I’m sticking the die cut piece onto a piece of vellum with washi tape. I only want to colour the flowers so I put all the cut pieces in between the leaves back in the die cut piece. I colour all the flowers in another colour. I’m using 2 or 3 shades of each colour to give it some depth. Starting with the lightest colour and adding the darker colour from the center of the flower to the middle part of the petals. Just be sure that you don’t cover the whole petal with the darker colours. After the colouring I cut the piece of vellum around the edges of the flowers.
I thought this piece of coloured vellum would look good as a shaker card. First I’m going to add a white border on the vellum piece by using the bar none mini slimline die. I’m cutting it out of white cardstock and cut off all the bars that are in the middle. I’m glueing the border with tacky glue onto the vellum piece.
On the back of the border I add 1mm thick double sided foam tape so there’ll be space for the shaker bits. I’m using the newest flutter fancy buttercream yellow shaker embellishments. Now I take off the lining of the double sided tape and place a card base on top of it. I chose to use a light yellow card base for this. Turn around and cut off all the excess card base if needed.
Almost done now, just need to add a sentiment to it. I chose the congratulations sentiment from the gilded expressions stampset. I stamped it onto a piece of cardstock in the same light yellow colour as the card base. Traced all the letters with a gold gel pen and cut it off in the same width as the shaker part. I glued it onto the vellum with tacky glue. I think this card turned out into an elegant shaker card and looks totally different than a normal shaker.
I hope I could inspire you with this elegant shaker card! See you next Tuesday!
