Combining a hotfoil pattern with layering.

Combining a hotfoil pattern with layering.
Hi crafty friends! I’m back on the blog sharing a card that involves hotfoiling. Let’s start.
First I’m going to choose a colour that I want to use. I based my decision on the colour of the Meraki dew drop sapphire night embellishments. That’s a deep blueish purple colour. I chose a blue paper with some purple in it as the base for my card. For this card we need two of the same pieces of cardstock. I’m going to hotfoil them both using the Sahara symphony meraki shimmer plate. The hotfoil colour I’m using is again a blueish purple.
After foiling the cardstock I’m going to colour one of them with distress oxide in uncharted mariner to give it a slightly different colour than the other piece.
The non coloured piece will be cut into different pieces using the laurel leaf para dies. I’m using both sizes and place them random onto the paper to cut them out.
To add more interest to the background I’m adding white splatters using spellbinders opaque splatter and a paintbrush with a bit of water. Tapping the brush with my fingers while holding it loosely in my other hand. Don’t use too much water, if you do you will not get opaque splatters. After splattering I lay this piece aside to dry and move on with my cut leaves. I’m adding 1mm thick double sided foam tape on each leaf. I want to continue the hotfoiled pattern so the leaves need to be placed on the cardbase in the pattern how you cut them out of the other piece.
Now the leaves are placed on the card base it’s time for a sentiment. I’m using the meraki moments hi die set and only two of the layers, I’m not using the base layer of this set. The bottom layer will be white and I really wanted to make the top layer in the same hotfoiled pattern but in another hotfoil colour but at the end it wasn’t looking good to me. That’s why I chose to cut the top layer again but now out of the meraki ombre glitter paper and glued it on top of the ‘ugly’ letters using tacky glue.
I’m adding lots of dew drop sapphire night embellishments to the background in between the leaves, using tacky glue, meraki bling buddy and twinkel tray.
And that’s all for today. Hope I could inspire you with this card in a way! See you next Tuesday!
