Hello crafty friends! It’s me, Karin again with a new blog. Today I’m focusing on the new butterfly bliss stampset and watercolouring. It’s an easy card to make with a stunning outcome.
First I’m going to start stamping all the butterflies. I’m using thin watercolour paper and I’m stamping the butterflies with memento dye ink in desert sand. Most of the time I cut my all in one stamps so I can use them all separately, so that’s what I did with the butterfly bliss stamp too. I started with stamping one butterfly onto the paper. I wanted to connect all the butterflies on the paper so I placed the second butterfly stamp with a wing against the wing from the butterfly that I already stamped. It’s like a puzzle. You just have to mix and match and puzzle to see which butterfly stamp can be next. After stamping all the butterflies I traced all the lines with a gold gelpen. I used a cheap one that isn’t water based. I just checked by adding a line onto a piece of watercolour paper, let dry and add water to it. When I saw all the gold I thought, why not add some more of it, so I coloured pieces of the wings and all the bodies of the butterflies with gold too. Before moving on I let the ink dry completely.
I’m going to use my Karin brushmarkers pro to colour these butterflies. I’m adding a little bit of ink onto the paper and with a wet brush I transfer the ink. I colour one space at a time to prevent that the place where I add the ink gets too saturated. I used the following colours: sulphur yellow 269, amber 195, magenta red 170, cerise 375, plum 197, cool aqua 204.
Because this card is so fresh and colourful I thought the ‘sending smiles’ sentiment stamp from the gilded expressions stampset is a good one to add to this card. I stamped it onto a piece of the same watercolour paper with the memento sand….and traced it with the golden nail art pen, like I did with the butterflies as well. I fussycut the sentiment and placed it onto the card with double sided foam tape. Hope this card inspired you, love to see you next Tuesday for another blog!
