Clean and Simple Vellum Elegance

Hi friends....it's Michelle back with you today for a more simple, yet elegant card using vellum. When I think elegant, I always thing gold and ivory and well, vellum fits in with that perfectly.

To start my card I used the wreath image from the Festive Flora Wreath Stamp Set and heat embossed it using WOW! Embossing Gold powder.  When heat embossing in vellum, you want to make sure that your heat embossing tool is nice and hot before you start.  When taking it to your vellum, be sure to keep the heat moving all over the vellum.  You don't want the heat to stay in one spot on it too long or you may risk warping the vellum. Once it was heat embossed I cut it out with the coordinating die and set it aside.

For the background I heat embossed the Holly Jolly Stamp Set on white using a Vanilla White embossing powder from WOW! Embossing.  This makes the background subtle enough, as it has a kind of tone on tone effect and keeps in with the elegant feel I was going for.

The sentiment was die cut from the Festive Flora Wreath EAP and diecut using the coordinating die.  I adhered the background to my cardbase using liquid adhesive.  I also adhered my vellum wreath using liquid adhesive, but I used a very fine tip on the glue bottle and applied the glue under the gold heat embossed lines. Adhesive can be a bit tricky with vellum, so you need to be really careful how and where you apply adhesive to vellum. The sentiment was added using foam squares for some dimension.  To finish it, I added a scattering of Meraki Silver Sparkle gems, as a bit of an opposite to the gold.

And that's it.  A simple yet elegant using vellum.  Dig into your stash and get out your vellum and have fun with it!  These are so many different ways you can use vellum.
