Hi guys, it's Jenny here, and today I'm sharing with you two ways to use a slimline die - its essentially a two cards for one technique as you'll see. I'm featuring the beautiful Crafty Meraki Crafty Wings Slimline die.
To create my cards, I first die cut the butterfly from sturdy 110lb cardstock. I wanted to use something thicker, as I'm first going to use the die cut as a stencil. I overlaid it onto a panel of white cardstock trimmed just slightly bigger than the diecut, and adhered with some washi tape just like a normal stencil.
I decided to create a rainbow blend. Starting from the top, I blended Pinkfresh Studio inks in Candy Apple, Apricot, Sunshine, Grassy Knoll, Summer Shower, and Soft Lilac, overlapping them each time. When I was blending, I also made sure to blend across the entire 'stencil' die cut as well. Before lifting up the stencil, I sprinted the piece with some shimmer spray.
To finish the card, I stamped a quote from the Crafty Meraki Fluttering Feathers stamp set in Detail Black ink by Pinkfresh. The 'Celebrate' is from the Crafty Meraki You Are Incredible set, heat embossed in gold embossing powder, trimmed out and popped on top with foam tape. I trimmed down the piece, leaving a small border round the edge, and mounted the entire panel onto a white slimline notecard.
For my second card, I took the now sparkly rainbow blended die cut (making sure to fill in any places where ink had missed such as where the washi had been) and adhered it directly to a white slimline note card. The sentiment die is from the Crafty Meraki Celebrate Tag Slimline die. I die cut the sentiment from gold mirror cardstock including the 'you', which I then mounted over my butterfly panel with foam tape. I adhered the 'you' with glue directly over the top.
I love this technique for cover panel dies - a perfect way to get a two for one card set that you can embellish as you choose!
Stay safe and have a great day!
Jenny
