Hello! Charmaine here with a look at Crafty Meraki's newest stamp from the April release named Love you Mom. Oh, the possibilities are endless with a large flowery Mom stamp and accompanying sentiments.
Here is what I did:
I started with an A2 Neenah Desert Storm 110lbs cardstock and a watermark stamp pad, like Versamark. Leave the image in the Misti; you will need to stamp this image 3 more times.
Start off coloring the image with Copics. (I really did not know where I was going with this card, but I kept on trucking!)
Next, I noticed that the MOM was disappearing against the Neenah cardstock. I grabbed a white Posca 0.7mm pen and colored only the letters. If it's not evenly applied the first time, wait until it dries a bit before coloring another layer.
Place the A2 back in the Misti and use an antistatic tool over the cardstock. Use the Versamark pad again and heat emboss with gold powder. I used WOW Metallic Gold Rich,
Look at the image and see if you need to add shading or highlights on the flowers and leaves. I used darker green and purple Copic pens to do this. But then, I saw that there is no "WOW" factor.
I grabbed a dark brown Copic, E29, and started coloring the background. The letters still did not pop. I used E79 around the letters as shadows, but still no "Ta-Da." Then I went straight for the black Copic and drew single lines alongside the letters, which helped the letters stand out. If you go over the gold embossed areas, place the card back in the Misti and heat emboss another layer of gold.
The torn edges were made with a cheap designer scissor, and I adhered it to a top folding landscape-oriented card. I colored the little butterfly blue and stamped the sentiment in that same color (Versafine Clair Warm Breeze). This was placed at the bottom with double-sided foam tape.
Thank you for stopping in today! I hope this card inspired you in some way to make a card for your mom! Or mum!
