Birthday Spotlight

Hey Crafty Meraki friends....this week it's is all about celebrating and what could be more of a clebration, than a birthday!  It's Michelle here sharing a simple and quick but beautiful birthday card.  Have you ever tried the spotlight technique?  This is a technique where you only colour a certain area of a stamped image, to highlight that area.  Normally you use a circle or another shape for your spotlight, but I decided to use the sentiment as my spotlight.  Let's get started, shall we and I'll show you just how simple this is!

Stamp the Garden of Eden stamp on a piece of white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink or any alcohol marker safe ink pad.Trim down the section of the image that you want to use to 4x5.25".  Place the birthday die from the Birthday Slimline Tag die and secure it with some low tack tape.  Run this through your die cuttting machine and be sure to keep all of the little bits from the diecut birthday.

Colour the diecut letters only with your Copic or other alcolhol markers, referring back to the stamped image if need be, to make sure you are colouring the image correctly (ie.flowers and leaves).  Adhere the uncoloured stamped image to the 4.25x5.5" cardbase, using liquid adhesive.  Once coloured, place the birthday diecut back in its place, along with all of the small pieces to fill in the gaps in the letters.  Diecut the small happy from the same tag die using black cardstock and adhere that over the middle of the word birthday.  Finish it off with a few of the Meraki Sparkle Silver gems.

And that's it!  This is such an effective and fabulous technique and if you are short on time, this is perfect!  Have you ever tried the spotlight technique?  Give it a try...there are so many ways to add that spotlight to your image!
