Hey friends....I'm back with you and ringing in the new year with all the colours and glitter! This week we are focusingon background dies and Crafty meraki has some fabulous ones! I used the Crafty Meraki Craft-A-Round Background A2 and created a fun (and easy too) rainbow diecut background, that puts all the attention on the background die. Let's get started, shall we!
Cut the background die from a piece of white cardstock and set aside. Next cut strips of rainbow coloured (glitter or non-glitter) cardtsock measuring just shy of 1/3" x 5.5". Add glue to the back of the diecut background and add the strips in rainbow order until it is fully covered.
Be sure to butt the strips up against one another, so there are no gaps in between. A few of the colours will be repeated. Cut off any excess that hangs off the top and bottom of the cardstock.
Using the,leftover cardstock strips plus a few extras cut, repeat the same process but on a small piece of cardstock large enough to fit the sentiment. Allow the glue to dry for a few minutes before diecutting. Once dry, use the Crafty Meraki - Meraki Moments Hey Para-Dies to cut out the sentiment. Cut the top detailed word layer and the bottom shadow layer from black cardstock. Cut the middle layer from the glitter rainbow cardstock.
Adhere the 3 layers together and add to the diecut background. Heat emboss the smaller sub-sentiment from the Crafty Meraki - Meraki Moments Hey Stamp Set on black using white embossing powder and trim down. Add over the diecut Hey using small foam squares. Add the background to an A2 cardbase.
This is a fun and easy way to add lots of colour to your diecut backgrounds, while keeping all the focus on the background. Any combination of colours would be amazing, but you can never go wrong with a glittery rainbow!
