Hello crafty friends! Lien here with 2 mini slimline cards to showcase some new mini slimline dies and a gorgeous layering stamp set from the latest release. As always I've included a video for you to watch as well!
For these cards I did some ombre stamping with the Angel Wings stamp set, and I made two butterflies at once because if you're doing layered stamping, you might as well make multiples, if you use the Misti, you'll only need to line up each layer once and you can stamp a bunch of images! Now I'm doing some ombre stamping and I'm not being fussy with it. On each layer of the stamp I'm applying two colors of ink with Pinkfresh Studio ink cubes. With every layer I use the same colors but a darker shade.
Ombre stamping works so well with layering stamps because the colors overlap each other at different parts of the image in each layer. Because the second layer will cover up most of the first layer and the color divide won't line up exactly the same, the colors in the final complete image will appear to blend seamlessly in the middle. It's really easy to do and creates a wonderful effect.
So I made two of these butterflies and fussycut them out. Then I really wanted to make these bright and bold butterflies stand out nicely on my card so I kept my backgrounds white. I started out with the teal and yellow butterfly card and I used the Jewel Bloom Mini Slimline die set for that. It cuts out a gorgeous floral frame but also some separate pieces which I will use on my second card later! I cut it out of thick white cardstock 3 times and layered those frames on top of each other.
Before adhering them to a white notecard I stamped a sentiment from the same Angel Wings stamp set onto the notecard in the same colors of inks I'd used for my butterfly. I then adhered the frame right on top of the notecard, put the butterfly on top of some foam tape and finished it off with a bunch of the Meraki Sparkle Emerald gems.
For my second card I die cut the Dancing Feathers Mini Slimline die from white cardstock, trimmed it down so it would leave a quarter inch margin all the way around on my mini slimline card and then added black splatter to it. I adhered it on top of 4 pieces of thick white cardstock and put that on my notecard. I love adding lots of dimension when I'm making white on white backgrounds.
I then added a ton of the flowers that I cut with that Jewel Bloom die. I gave them a little bit of dimension by using the rounded cap of a gel pen to press the die cuts into some craft foam, that presses down the center of the flowers, making the petals flare up. I glued them onto my mini slimline card with liquid adhesive and added the butterfly on there with some foam tape (only adhering the center so the wings flare up nicely). To finish it up, I added a bunch of the Meraki Sparkle Purple Dream gems to the centres of these flowers.
