Hey friends.....Michelle back with you today sharing an easy interactive card that anyone can do! Everyone loves a fun shaker card with all the shaker bits, but they can seem a bit overwhelming to make. Well I have an easy way to make them.
This weeks theme is interactive cards, so I thought that I would make a more simple kind of interactive card, that is lots of fun! I made a full panel shaker card. I find these alot easier to make rather than a smaller shaker area on your card. Keep reading and I'll give you all the details!
To begin I used a full A2 shaker cover, from Waffle Flower Crafts that covers the entire front of your A2 (4.25x5.5) card. I took the Birthday Balloons Stencil (this stencil is seriously one of faves and is so versatile) and added some Decofoil Transfer Gel Duo to the front of the A2 shaker cover. I made sure to add a thin layer of the gel, so it wouldn't take too long to dry and would dry evenly. You want to make sure that you use the Duo Transfer Gel, as you don't need heat via a laminator or Minc machine to adhere the foil ( side note....I know this, as I did a test before and ran a shaker cover through my Minc to see if they are heat resistant and well, let me just tell you that I now need a new Minc machine....ugh).
Anywho.....I allowed the duo gel to dry overnight and then added my piece of Silver Star foil to the dried gel and ran it thorugh my die cutting machine, as it needs pressure to adhere if you are not applying heat to it. Although it dried overnight, I still had a bit of the gel spread ( you can see this on the right side under the y in birthday) as I guess it wasn't completely dry, but that's alright.
I ink blended a panel using Faded Jeans and Picked Raspberry Distress Inks for my background to add some colour. I folded over all 4 sides of the shaker cover using the pre-scored tabs and then inserted the panel to the back of the A2 shaker cover and removed the backing paper from the adhesive on the bottom and sides of the shaker cover and adhered the sides to the front of my A2 card base.
I then filled the shaker with a mix of shaker bits and sequins from the top, as this wasn't closed yet. Once I had enough bits in there I removed the adhesive backing and folded down the top tab of the cover and adhered it to card front. To finish it I added a sentiment from the Gilded Greetings EAP and the coordinating die with some foam tape and that's it.
And that's it! This is really one of the easiest and simplest shaker cards to make! If you don't have these shaker covers, you could easily use a sheet of clear acetate and score the sides of it and fold it over yourself. Do you like to make interactive cards??? They can as intricate and fancy as you'd like or a simple shaker like I've made today.
