Hey Crafty Meraki friends....it's Michelle back with you, sharing a simple gatefold card. This week the Crafty Meraki design team is putting all the focus on interactive, fancy and fun fold cards. Now I must admit, that these types of cards are not my forte and I wasn't sure what to do, so I did what everyone does...turned to Pinterest for different fold card ideas. There are so many great and amazing ideas out there, but I decided to stay on the simple side and focus on the Gatefold card. Now you may ask yourself, self...what is a gatefold card??? Well it is just that...a card that opens up like a gate. Let's open up that gate and get right to it, shall we!
To start cut a piece of light pink cardstock to 8.5" x 5.5". Score at 2 1/8" on either side, from the outside edges in. Cut 2 pieces of black cardstock to 2" x 5 3/8" and 2 pieces of printed cardstock to 5 1/4" x 1 7/8". Take a bone folder and fold over both scored lines on the pink cardbase. Adhere both pieces of printed cardstock on the black cardstock with liquid adhesive and adhere to the folded flaps on the outside of the folded card base.
Cut a few vellum leaves using the Laurel Leaf dies. Cut out the pink themed sheet from the Evergreen Elegance EAP using the coordinating dies. Arrange all diecut leaves accordingly and adhere using glue. Cut out a small circle from the same pink cardstock as the cardbase to adhere behind the diecut leaves. This will give the leaves a base to adhere to, but also ties in the cardbase more. Cut the happy birthday sentiment from the Gilded Greetings EAP and cut out using the coordinating dies.
Adhere the pink diecut circle to the middle of the left side of the flap. Be sure to only apply glue to half of the circle. Add the diecut leaf arrangement to the circle diecut and the happy birthday sentiment over the bottom half of the leaves, using foam adhesive to give it some dimension. To finish it, add scattering of Meraki Sparkle Magic Crystal gems and tie a piece of twine around the card to keep it closed before it goes to recipient.
I hope that you have enjoyed my post for today and that I help to inspire you some way. If you are new to fun and fancy fold cards, then I think the gateway card is a perfect intro to them. I wish you all the most wonderful and crafty day and until next time,
Michelle :)
